Authors/illustrators/educators and other friends of California independent bookstores

As of 1/1/2024, we are eliminating author, illustrator, and educator-specific memberships. Current memberships will be honored until their expiration, one year from the date of enrollment.

We appreciate your support of California independent bookstores.

Apply for membership

CALIBA's top priority is to serve our bookstore members. If we determine that an individual or organization's actions do not align with the best interests of our members, the Board of Directors reserves the right to refuse or terminate their membership.

For Authors: How to Partner with Independent Bookstores: A Win-Win Scenario.

On your website and in your communications:

CALIBA membership requires that your website link to at least one of the following:

• a local store or stores that carry your book.

• *Bookshop.org to help customers find their local indie bookstore.

• Include a link to *Libro.fm for the purchase of your audiobooks.

* Both offer affiliate programs for extra income! 

Authors and illustrators with links only to Amazon will be denied membership.
