We have just moved our store to a wonderful new location in Del Mar, CA!  We are looking for a full-time bookseller with bookselling experience.  We are a full service bookstore and  so we need a bookseller who likes other human beings of all kinds; works well with others; and likes to help people. Curiosity about people as well as books, ideas, and experiences are a must.  We are looking for someone who wants to work with books for the long haul.

Owned by a local husband and wife, the bookshop’s inventory has been tailored to accommodate the local readership with a twist that reflects the owners’ love of nature, science fiction, fantasy and children’s books.

Readers’ Books has been a Sonoma institution since 1991 and is dedicated to providing a gathering place for readers of all ages. As a fiercely independent and local bookstore, Readers’ strives to serve the community and serve as a meeting place for thinkers of all types. We host 40-45 events a year, both on and off-site, including partnering with large festivals and conferences. Our team is small, but close, including very long-term employees; we love to provide a home for people to learn and grow into the bookselling community. 

Responsibilities include: 

• The job is a bookseller/social media person with potential growth towards events coordinator. 
• Must have solid working knowledge of: Instagram, Facebook, and Bluesky. 
• Will be required to create assets for events using Canva or equivalent; create promotional material for events; and write grids.
• Point of sale and google suite experience.
• One weekend shift required, one evening shift, 24-32 hours per week.
• Pay commensurate with experience.

Book Society, a new bookstore & wine bar in Berkeley, is looking for a part-time team member to help create an elevated and welcoming experience for our guests. If you love books, wine, and building community, this could be the perfect fit!

About the Role:

This is a part-time position, ideally working weekday evenings to close. You'll play a key role in ensuring our guests have an exceptional experience while helping to keep our space running smoothly.

Responsibilities:

• Greet and assist customers, ensuring a warm and inviting atmosphere
• Guide guests through our curated book and wine pairings
• Prepare and serve our delectable snacks
• Keep the space stocked, organized, and tidy
• Support with events and special projects as needed

• Passionate about books, wine, and hospitality
• Detail-oriented and proactive in keeping the space running smoothly
• Experience in bookselling, wine bars and/or cafés is a plus!
