The Glenn Goldman Scholarship Fund
Donations
Donations to the Glenn Goldman Scholarship Fund help CALIBA send one bookseller a year to Winter Institute, the largest bookseller conference in the country, put on by the American Booksellers Association. The conference offers education, connection, and professional growth for booksellers from across the country.
It is a unique and often life-changing opportunity for those pursuing bookselling as a career path. Through the Glenn Goldman Scholarship Fund, CALIBA is able to pay for the winner's Winter Institute Registration, Hotel Stay, and Travel. Our dream is to be able to offer more scholarships to more conferences via the Glenn Goldman Scholarship Fund.
The Glenn Goldman Scholarship began with the Southern California Independent Booksellers Association several years ago as a tribute to longtime bookstore owner and friend, Glenn Goldman. Goldman was the owner of the iconic bookstore, Book Soup which he founded in 1975 on Sunset Boulevard. Book Soup was long known as the “bookseller to the great and infamous” and Goldman’s legacy can still be felt in the store today. Glenn Goldman was a loyal friend, savvy businessman, and passionate bookseller.
The Glenn Goldman Scholarship, now managed by CALIBA, is a tribute to Goldman’s memory and offers the opportunity for booksellers from throughout California to attend conferences near and far to expand their bookselling knowledge and enrich their lives.
