DENVER PUBLISHING INSTITUTE SCHOLARSHIP

Applications are open for current booksellers from a physical bookstore interested in learning about the publishing arm of the industry to apply for a scholarship to attend the Denver Publishing Institute (DPI). The scholarship, offered by the Book Industry Charitable (Binc) Foundation in collaboration with Sourcebooks and the Denver Publishing Institute at the University of Denver, is worth up to $7,000. It includes tuition, room and board, and up to $2,000 to cover travel and lost wages.
Applications will be open until Friday, February 7th.

3 - Books Inc., in Campbell, snuggling on National Hugging Day with a good book and an avo toast pillow.
4 - Monarch Books, in Arroyo Grande, donated books in their community from their Book Tree program.
5 - Bookshop Santa Cruz, raised more than their $10,000 goal for their Holiday Book Drive, which means more books for local students!
6 - Shop Around the Corner Books, in Redding, is collaborating with their city to add a little free library to the park behind their bookstore.
7 - The Book Seller, in Grass Valley, introduced customer review cards. Great way to share your book recommendations.
8 - Volumes of Pleasure Books, in Los Osos, is prepping for the Year of the Snake with a beautiful window display.
9 - Word Horde Emporium, in Petaluma, celebrated Edgar Allan Poe's 216th birthday!

Onyx Storm Book Release Parties:
10 - East Village Booskhop, in Sacramento, thanked their customers for making Onyx Storm their most popular pre-order title.
11 - A Seat at the Table Books, in Elk Grove, had a midnight release party for their pre-order customers. And they're planning to have more release parties in the future!
12 - The Ripped Bodice, in Los Angeles, had fun showing off their party from the book's perspective.
13 - Book Society, in Berkeley, had a packed house for their midnight release party.

18 - The Reading Bug, in San Carlos, has all the loved themed board books on display for Valentine's Day.
19 - Underdog Bookstore, in Monrovia, will have a death doula and grief worker in their store on Sunday, Jan. 26th, for a free Community Grief Circle.
20 - North Figueroa Bookshop, in Los Angeles, reminded those affected by the fires that they're still accepting quarters and laundry detergent for their Laundry Fund.
21 - Diesel A Bookstore, in Santa Monica, is raising money to support their booksellers and other people in their community devastated by the fires.
22 - Casita Bookstore, in Long Beach, is collecting 1000 books to distribute to parents and teachers who lost their personal and classroom libraries. The Collective Book Studio has helped Casita Bookstore with a donation of 200 books.
23 - Dym Books & Boba, in Pasadena, shared their gratitude for the #denastrong community.
24 - Copperfield's Books, in Petaluma, is working with Diesel to rebuild school and home libraries that were destroyed in the LA wildfires.
