CALIBA Oakland Spring Forum - April 1, 2025

AUTHOR SUBMISSIONS DUE JANUARY 24TH

Connect your authors and books to 100+ California booksellers! CALIBA is returning to the Oakland Asian Cultural Center, April 1st, for a day of lively conversation, education, rep picks, and networking.

Have a great idea for a panel, presentation, or creative addition to the day? Share them in the form below!

SPRING FORUM REP PICKS INTEREST FORM - RESPOND BY FEBRUARY 7TH

Please fill out the form below and let us know if you are interested in participating in one of the upcoming sessions at our Northern (April 1st at the Oakland Asian Cultural Center) or Southern (May, TBA) California Spring Forum. This is just an interest form; we will reach out with an invitation based on past participation and the spaces available.

At each forum, we plan to have two rep pick sessions (one session featuring adult titles, one session featuring children's titles). Each rep will present ~5-7 titles in ~5-7 minutes (# of titles presented will be determined after schedule is finalized). Cost: $200.

The deadline for submissions is February 7th.

Rep picks invitations for the Oakland Spring Forum will be sent the week of February 17th.

Sponsorships help us keep the event affordable for booksellers and help fund bookseller grants to attend. Please help us get as many booksellers to the event as possible.

1 - A Seat at the Table Books, in Elk Grove, is celebrating their 3rd anniversary with a “fan favorite,” a bag sale!🛍️

2 - Shop Around the Corner Books, in Redding, reflected on a few things they’ve learned as a bookstore owner.✍️

3 - Small World Books, in Venice, showed off their favorite books of 2024, we spy a Golden Poppy finalist 👀.

4 - La Playa Books, in San Diego, started the new year off right, together.🍲 

5 - Bel Canto Books, in Long Beach, stayed “rooted” in their journey and put their plans for the future on paper!📓

6 - Reparations Club, in Los Angeles, offered up some words of wisdom from Audre Lord ℅ Pat Parker to inspire you to start writing your novel.🧐

7 - Tía Chucha's Centro Cultural, in Sylmar, shared their love of books with a Winterlandia holiday event for the little book lovers.📚

8 - Ruby’s Books, in Folsom, held their first story time of 2025 with author, Lisa Frankel Riddiough.🧸
